yktyk

there's an ac for that!

acronym dictionary and predictive texting

yktyk (pronounced yacketyak) is a great new app for acronyms that allows you to type in a letter and it will predict a choice of acronyms. It also works the other way around, where the receiver can translate the acronyms you have texted.

yktyk gives you a database of acronyms to choose from and you can send your messages via SMS, Facebook or Twitter. There is also the option to add your own favourite acronyms such as

muatm = meet you at the Met, cuaw = see you after work, JB = Justin Beiber - and so on.

The yktyk iPhone app takes acronyms and translates them right there on your phone. It also predicts the acronyms you are looking for by typing in the first two letters. For example: By typing in ti you would be presented with a choice tia = thanks in advance, tiad = tomorrow is another day, tiail = think I am in love, tic = tongue in cheek, tilis = tell it like it is, tinwis = that is not what I said. You can then choose the acronym you want for your text message and send it on. At the other end, if your friend has the yktyk app as well, they can translate your message so that they’re not left wondering what your yktyking on about.

One of the other fun things about this app is the fun acronyms. Some favorites are bisflatm = boy I sure feel like a turquoise monkey, wgaff = who gives a flying *freak*, sihtt = stupidity is hard to take, roflcopter = rolling on floor laughing and spinning around, qfi = quoted for idiocy, lab&tyd = life’s a bitch and then you die. It's really gr8 to be able to drop acronyms like this in conversation with your friends at any given time - just to keep them guessing! With over 1800 acronyms on the yktyk database you'll always have heapsd handy as a reference on your iPhone.

There is free sample available, but if you want to go the whole hog it will only cost you 99 cents for the Serious Pack 1. You can download the app at http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/yktyk/id465280868?mt=8&ls=1 or you can visit the yktyk website at www.yktyk.com

There is also a fun youtube video presented by two crazy talking animal lamps http://youtu.be/EKJBx-HRxPY

Get the app and join the fun - whether you text, share on Facebook and twitter or simply just drop acronyms into your conversation - yktyk is a real hit!
